The dark Knight Rises probably has the biggest number of random rumors spreading around of any movie before. Remember two years ago when people actually thought that Eddie Murphy was going to play The Riddler? The speculation certainly hasn’t ended as of late, and a lot of it is still pretty absurd (sorry comic fans, but Joseph Gordon-Levitt is not gonna be Robin. I’d stake anything on it.) Now, 13-year-old actress Joey King recently let a pretty big *SPOILER* slip in an interview with My Entertainment World.
“I play young Talia al Ghul,” she said. “I can’t give too much away because I promised mr. Nolan I wouldn’t say anything. There are too many secrets about the character and the movie.”
So much for not giving things away. This isn’t actually that big of a surprise, IMDB had that same role listed for a period of time, and one could kind of deduce it from what we know of the film so far. This does take it from “probably true” to “confirmed”, though, and it makes pretty clear what Marion Cotillard‘s role will be. It had long been speculated that Cotillard’s character, Miranda Tate, was really Talia Al Guhl in disguise, but the actress had seemingly denied that her character was from the comics. I think’s its pretty safe to say that she was just being coy. Actor Josh Pence is going to play a young Ra’s Al Guhl in a flashback, one that will probably include Talia, and it would be pretty strange for there to be a young Talia Al Guhl without a corresponding old one. So, now we can add Talia Al Guhl to Bane and Catwoman to the film’s roster of villains. is anyone out there surprised by this?
