LOS ANGELES (LALATE EXCLUSIVE) – Braxton Family Values could become the next reality TV ratings megahit. Braxton Family Values, which returns with Tamar Braxton and Toni Braxton tonight, is on a path to become of the fastest growing reality TV programs this year, LALATE can report.
Braxton Family Values premiered in just April of last year. but in newly released ratings data, the show is not only growing fast in viewership but also key demographics. While executives believe the show is strong among females, LALATE believes it’s one of the most entertaining new reality shows in a longtime. The show proves that reality programing is about dealing with struggles while remaining strong.
In recent weeks, other shows like the Kardashians are under fire accused of allegedly staging scenes between family members. but Braxton Family Values handles imperfections and shows how to emerge through family conflicts, stronger.
In a news interview this month, Vincent Herbert told press that “The most endearing thing that I love about my in-laws is that they love each other. at the end of the day they are beautiful, strong, black women that care for each other. at the end of the day, that is all you got is each other.”
Usually other cable executives are more obsessed with telling you how perfect their cast members’ lives are on their reality shows. Kim Martin, President and General Manager of WeTV, says her show depicts diversity, across the board. “What you see on screen with Braxton Family Values is exactly what is happening in their lives. There is a multiple generational household… you have marriages that are working, marriages that aren’t working. you have single moms. you have a reflection of everything that is going on America. and that is what everyone loves this show.” and LALATE certainly loves it.
After years of networks, like MTV with The Hills, accused of fabricating romances on screen, Braxton Family Values is real programming to the bones, and hilarious at that.
Last year, Martin told news “The show brings a much bigger and younger audience to WEtv.” She added that the network is “focused on providing real-life shows about families that viewers can relate to”.
That has translated into ratings growth. In December, the show was up to a 0.5 ratings share in the 18-49 demographic drawing 863,000 viewers. By the end of the month, it grew to nearly 1 million viewers with a 0.6 ratings share in that same demographic. Last week’s episode has held in ratings as well. A new episode premieres tonight on WEtv.
