When Whitney Houston came onto the scene in the mid-1980s, she had a perfect image to go along with that perfect singing voice. But by the late ’90s, her life seemed to be unraveling. The "Greatest Love of All" singer lost a scary amount of weight, began missing concerts and was caught with marijuana. She denied accusations of drug addiction in a 2002 Diane Sawyer interview, saying, "Crack is cheap. I make too much money to ever smoke crack." Houston then turned her dysfunctional marriage to Bobby Brown into a spectator sport with their 2004 reality show being Bobby Brown. "He was my drug," the singer (pictured earlier this year) told Oprah Winfrey in 2009, three years after leaving Brown. In May 2011, the mom to 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina checked into outpatient rehab for drug and alcohol issues, hopefully helping her get her career and life back on track.
