GENEVA – Geneva’s 62nd annual Swedish Days – A Midsommar Festival will kick off on Tuesday and run through Sunday. there will be free nightly musical entertainment on Central Stage. the Art & Craft Show is held Tuesday through Thursday on Hamilton Street. more than 100 crafters show handcrafted items. For a Scandinavian art flavor, the Norwegian Rosemaling Show is held at Geneva History Center, 113 S. third St., Wednesday through Saturday. Swedish Days hosts activities for kids, and the grand finale on Sunday is the Swedish Days Parade. For a complete festival brochure, visit www.genevachamber.com, but here are some highlights: The beer – and root beer – gardens the Geneva American Legion Post will open its Swedish Days “beer garden” from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. in addition to beer, wine and soft drinks, food is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. A daily menu of brats, chili dogs, hot dogs, Swedish meatballs on a stick, chef salad and fruit plate will be offered. also, the American Legion is continuing with its “Root Beer Garden” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday. Kids 10 and younger accompanied by a parent will receive a free hot dog, chips and a root beer. Kids will also receive an American flag. The music Liverpool, a Beatles tribute band, begins the lineup at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Mike & Joe, a band that plays modern and alternative music from the 1990s through today, will perform on Wednesday. Brother John, a group that performs music from classic rock to jazz, will perform Thursday. Spoken Four, which performs music from more than five decades, headlines on Friday. Yard Fulla Cars, which covers country and rock hits from the past to the present, performs on Saturday. there also will be “Unplugged on the Lawn” shows from 1 to 3 p.m. Evening concerts will be at the Central Stage, and Unplugged on the Lawn events are in front of the courthouse. both venues are on South third and James Street. When the bar code is “scanned” with a Smartphone, it will direct the user to a specific site on the Internet. the Swedish Days QR Codes will reveal the “Hot Deals” available at participating businesses.
