OPENING WEDNESDAYARTHUR CHRISTMAS 3 stars (PG) When the North Pole’s high-tech Christmas present delivery system overlooks a little English girl, Santa’s bumbling son Arthur (James McAvoy) resolves to delivery the gift. the plot bogs down in some superfluous business in the second half, but the film boasts a Christmas feast of funny gags and a surprisingly complex approach to family dynamics and the tension between cutting edge and Old School holidays. Gabourey Sidibe has warned fans about an Internet prankster who is posing as the actress on Twitter.com.
The Precious star is not a particularly big fan of social networking and she hasn’t yet made the move to Twitter but Sidibe reveals a random user has already created a profile in her name and regularly sends out messages to her fan base.

The men-on-a-mission movie is a time-honoured staple of the cinema. sometimes we’re told how many men there are: the Dirty Dozen, the Magnificent seven, Ocean’s eleven. sometimes we have to guess: Inglourious Basterds, Where Eagles dare, Saving Private Ryan.
So much for the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival being a slow one for sales.
