If viewed as a manufacturing factory churning out teen stars, the Korean pop music industry is streets ahead of the U.S. in its heyday in terms of output, according to a leading U.S. media. “American teen-pop at its peak has never been this productive. K-pop is an environment of relentless newness, both in participants and in style,” the new York Times wrote on Tuesday in an article about Korean entertainment agencies’ ability to foster new talent. the paper ran the story on two pages along with a review of the SM Town Live concert held at Madison Square Garden in new York on Sunday. It said that producing a singer along the likes of Canadian teen Justin Bieber requires the effort and coordination of an army of support staff, including producers, managers, vocal trainers, choreographers and stylists. but Korea now has several entertainment companies that specialize in churning out teen idol groups in various incarnations as it has refined this process.

Not that this means we have forgotten all of you who had a stressful time last week, braving the heat and traffic at Janet Jackson’s performance on Yas Island. this weekend, we have India’s legendary rock band Indus Creed performing live in our neck of the woods, along with a fantastic stage adaptation of John Gray’s, “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus.” But what we are really rooting for are those brave women who will take to the ramp on Friday at BurJuman, as they share their stories about surviving breast cancer. come on Dubai, let’s all pitch in and show our support. Thursday – October 20 Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus Anyone who has been in a relationship will probably be sniggering in their seats, while a few others might just give in to the urge of an elbow nudge or five. this, my dear friends, is extremely witty and eye-opening stage adaptation of John Gray’s bestseller novel, “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus”. King of Pop Michael Jackson’s sister has chosen Abu Dhabi as one of the 35 international cities she will perform at during her “Number Ones, Up Close and Personal Tour”. Talking about her upcoming tour earlier, Jackson had said: “these concerts will be different from anything I have ever done. I will be as up close and personal as possible, she said. “these concerts are not about special effects. this is a love affair between me and those of you who have supported me and my work for all these years. I’ll be singing and dancing from my heart. The music will all be songs that you’ve made number one for me.” The 45-year-old released her “Number Ones” album, her second greatest hits compilation, in 2009. The double-disc album featured her 35 number one hit singles, spanning various music charts and includes Jackson’s new single, “Make Me,” which became her 35th number one single and 19th number one hit on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. Tickets for the Jackson show go on sale today, with tickets priced at Dh265 for general admission; Dh365 for the grandstand; Dh665 for the fan pit. Abu Dhabi Film Festival over 200 films over 10-days means this year’s Abu Dhabi Film Festival will create a buzz like never before. with top notch films from around 43 countries, this year’s ADFF will also see top celebs turning to the capital. Leading the way on the red carpet will be Evan Rachel Wood, the stunner who stars in the George Clooney-directed political thriller, “The Ides of March”. also attending is Topher Grace, better known as the goofy teen on “That 70’s Show” or of course, as the baddie Venom, in “Spider-man 3”. I have heard all sorts of myths associated with breastfeeding and I’m dying for clarification. while some people say it is good for the baby, especially when done exclusively for six months, others believe that breastfeeding contributes to excessive sagging of the breasts. Janet Jackson abs. or, if you were desperate and lazy enough, Mariah Carey spray-on abs. it wasn’t a great time for celebrating the natural feminine form. Unfortunately Jodie Marsh appears to have some sort of cognitive delay that makes her struggle with understanding time, because she doesn’t realize we’ve moved on by about 12 years. a softer (though still flat) shape is what most women go for. Muscle-y definition is left for the dudes and the female bodybuilders with the pancake breasts.
