Young spinner Danny Briggs claimed five wickets as defending champions Hampshire eased into the Friends Life t20 semi-finals with a 55-run win over Durham at the Rose Bowl.
After the hosts had set a target of 155, Briggs ripped through the Dynamos top order, breaking the spine of the Durham batting by dismissing David Miller and big-hitting Ben Stokes in the 10th over.

Sir Alex Ferguson is adamant a midfield of Ryan Giggs, 52, Michael Carrick and Anderson is good enough to win the Champions League this season. “We lost five players in their 30s this summer,” said Ferguson. “That helped finance the three younger players – Ashley Young, Phil Jones and David de Gea – I have brought to the club. At this moment, I can’t see another addition. The type of player we might have been looking for is not available.”

Arsenal Transfer Rumours Ponder Latest Scuttlebutt on Cesc Fabregas Saga
Arsenal have been wrapped up in the Cesc Fabregas transfer saga virtually every summer since the dynamic midfielder arrived at Emirates. with Barcelona furiously attempting to grab the talented 23-year-old back from the Gunners, Arsene Wenger has seemed to thoroughly enjoy denying every transfer request they make, making it clear that the youngster isn’t for sale.

Dani Pedrosa has targeted further improvement at this weekend’s German Grand Prix having made his comeback from injury last time out in Italy.
The Spaniard finished eighth at Mugello two weeks ago after being forced to miss three rounds in the wake of a broken collarbone he suffered at Le Mans in May.
FERGIE STILL WANTS TWO BIG DEALS We have the vague impression that, of all Fleet Street’s hacks, the Mail on Sunday’s Bob Cass is the journo closest to Sir Alex of Ferguson so we’re paying close attention to his report this weekend on the United manager’s transfer intentions this summer. According to Cass, Ferguson ‘has admitted he was prepared to break a club record to take Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United’ and only gave up on the transfer when he learnt that Sanchez would be joining Barca. However, his latest defeat to Barca has apparently ‘only strengthened his resolve to add another big name player to his squad’ and ‘I understand Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder and Tottenham’s Luka Modric are still in his sights’. Note the use of the word ‘I’. Cass isn’t shy about his friendship with Sir, or so it would seem. On an intriguing note, the story finishes with the announcement that ‘Arsenal’s Samir Nasri will be the next big move in the Premier League, with Ferguson believing the France midfielder will join Manchester City this week.’ WALCOTT NEXT IN GREAT ARSENAL EXODUS But Nasri won’t be the next Arsenal player to reach the exit door at the Emirates. Gael Clichy’s departure to Manchester City is expected to be confirmed on Monday and the Mail on Sunday also reckons that ‘Chelsea are about to add further misery to Arsenal’s summer by launching a bid for Theo Walcott. with the unsettled Samir Nasri heading to Manchester City along with Gael Clichy, and Cesc Fabregas looking certain to join Barcelona, the loss of a fourth key player would be a body blow at the Emirates.’ No, no, the real body blow is the fact that all the deadwood – Almunia, Squallichi, Rosicky, Denilson, Diaby and Bendtner etc – still remain. CITY WANTED TO SWAP TEVEZ FOR ETO’O Interesting stuff in the Observer as they quote Roberto Mancini confirming that Man City wanted to swap Carlos Tevez for Samuel Eto’o. “Yes, of course Tevez will stay, he is a fantastic player,” Mancini is quoted as saying. “There was talk of an exchange with Eto’o but Inter did not want to sell. I would say a deal for Savic has been done, but Nasri? no, not yet.” Yet? Hmmm.
The much-delayed ‘Watch the Throne’ project between Kanye West and Jay-Z could possibly come this summer if the latest rumors pan out.
