Since yours truly will soon be following the established American holiday tradition of sandwiching that special day between as many days away from work as possible, I thought I’d get some Christmas shopping out of the way early.
On Wednesday it was reported that Chelsea and England defender Ashley Cole is to star alongside Danny Dyer in a new drama named ‘Played’.
The flick will see Cole make his acting debut, alongside Joe Cole and Sam Allardyce, in a film exploring the life of a dodgy football agent, played by Dyer.
Justin Bieber may have a doctor’s appointment visit on Friday — to take a DNA test disproving he’s the father of Mariah Yeater‘s son Tristyn, 4 months.
“He’s ready to take a paternity test, at any moment. We have one scheduled for tomorrow,” Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, told Extra host Maria Menounos at Thursday’s Pencils of Promise charity event in L.A.

Unless you were in a coma last summer, you heard all about Carmageddon, the one-weekend construction closure in Los Angeles of a part of Interstate 405 (site of the legendary 1994 slow-speed cop chase of murderer O.J. Simpson). The run-up publicity was massive and worldwide. Like a hurricane off somewhere in the Caribbean, there were predictions of a massive bad outcome. and like most threatened hurricanes, the worst did not come to pass. Los Angeles residents simply left town or stayed home.

A Thursday night tweet from former NFL star Warren Sapp: “Congratulations Ron Washington & the Texas Rangers World Champions!” . . .
