Hip-hop star and activist Wyclef Jean has been released from a hospital in his native Haiti after being treated for a gunshot wound to the hand Saturday.
Joe Mignon, a director of Jean’s Yele Foundation, says Jean was shot in the hand after 11 p.m. in Delmas, outside the capital of Port-au-Prince.

(Wikimedia Images)Who knows whether or not Hatian-American singer Wyclef Jean would have made a great Haitian presidential candidate since he was ruled ineligable to due residency requirements. In Haiti, one has to reside in the country for five years before the Nov. 28 elections in order to run for president. and now, to rub salt into the wound, his was shot in the hand while in Port-au-Prince.

Hip-hop star Wyclef Jean was recovering after receiving a gunshot wound to the hand while campaigning for a fellow performer who is running for president.
The shooting happened in the Delmas section of the capital, Port-au-Prince, after 11pm local time Saturday said Joe Mignon, senior program director for Jean’s Yele Foundation. Jean was treated at a hospital and later released, Mignon said.
