Lil Wayne facing more prison time

Doing 12 months in prison was considered an extended vacation for Lil Wayne…now he could be looking at twice as much prison time.

A lawyer for incarcerated rapper LIL WAYNE has asked a judge in Yuma County, Arizona to postpone a planned trial on weapons and drug charges until after the star has completed his current prison sentence.

Yuma County Superior Court Judge Mark Wayne Reeves issued a bench warrant for his arrest on Tuesday (16Mar10) after he failed to show up for a court date in the state. The warrant relates to an incident in 2008 when border police allegedly found cocaine, ecstasy, and a handgun on Wayne’s tour bus. The rapper pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Wayne’s attorney has now filed court papers asking authorities in Arizona to scrap plans to put the star on trial on 30 March (10) and wait until Wayne is released from prison in New York before prosecuting him in the state.

The move means the hip-hop star could head back to trial as soon he is released from jail, with the possibility of landing another prison sentence of up to 48 months.

Mystical…convicted sex offender turned youth mentor

Rapper MYSTIKAL is urging troubled youths to learn from his mistakes and stay out of jail, after completing a six-year prison term earlier this year (10).

He was charged with forcing his female hairstylist at gun point to perform sex acts on him and two of his bodyguards because he believed she had stolen $80,000 (£50,000) from him.

The rapper was released from a Louisiana state prison earlier this year (Jan10), and now he hopes his story can help save troubled youths from leading a life of crime.

He tells Hip-Hop Weekly magazine, "I can definitely let them knuckleheads know, the dog that’s barking at you, that dog bit me, and it’s not the route you want to take. I’ll be a mentor. I’m sure going through what I just went through, that I’ll get them to listen to me."

Diddy expands his wealth enterprise

When you see Diddy kick around this kind of money…you understand just how financially successful he really is.

Rap mogul SEAN COMBS is in talks to save troubled London soccer team Crystal Palace - he’s reportedly planning to make a takeover bid of $576 million (£360 million).

The hip-hop star’s representatives have confirmed he is looking into investing in a soccer club and has voiced interest in a number of teams - but he’s attracted to the South London side because of its name.

And, according to British tabloid the Daily Mirror, Diddy’s so keen on the club, which went into bankruptcy in January (10), he’s preparing to make the staggering bid.

Diddy isn’t the first rapper to turn his attention to the soccer world - fellow superstar Jay-Z is reportedly interested in buying a stake in North London club Arsenal.

50 Cents is not a sell-out but he is hypocrite. I vividly remember him being a heavy critic of "hip-hop dance music" and now he’s making the same type of music…what goes around comes around.

50 CENT is turning his back on real hip-hop to make a dance record.

The rapper admits he has been inspired to take his music career in a different direction after spending time in European nightclubs.

The hip-hop star has already recorded some of the tracks, and hopes his decision to embrace a new sound will help cement his reputation as a versatile dance style hip-hop artist.

He tells MTV.co.uk, "I went to a nightclub… The music they were playing before they were playing the music I created was more up-tempo, more dance. I wanted to make a song like that, so I went into the studio and created a few dance records".

"I won’t allow myself to be placed in a box where I can only do one style, or do one kind of music. They should expect the unexpected on this one. If they can understand how I enjoy different genres of music and different styles, for the people who have various tastes in music, they’ll really like it. Plus real hip-hop ain’t what selling right now."

BEYONCE has had a whiff of the sweet smell of success - $3 million (£1.88 million)-worth of her Beyonce Heat fragrance has been sold since its launch last month (Feb10).

Fans clamored to purchase the fragrance, which features "notes of red vanilla orchid, magnolia, neroli and blush peach", and it quickly became America’s top-selling beauty counter product.

The fragrance’s popularity continues to soar - Macy’s CEO Terry Lungren has revealed sales have reached a staggering $3 million in its first few weeks of release.
