KANYE WEST’s on/off girlfriend AMBER ROSE has heaped praise on the rap superstar for "saving" her life and helping to kick-start her modeling career.
The curvaceous beauty grew up in poverty in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania but shot to fame last year (09) when she began dating West and the couple became a mainstay at red carpet events.
West and Rose, who briefly split last summer (09), were recently rumored to have parted ways once again – but that hasn’t stopped the model from crediting the hip-hop star with boosting her career opportunities.
She tells YRB Magazine, "Honestly, Kanye saved my life, and I don’t even think about what I would have been; I just think about what I’m going to be."
Rose refuses to let her newfound star status inflate her ego and she’s constantly amazed when fans recognize her on the street.
She says, "I don’t look at myself as a celebrity. I’m just a dope chick from South Philly! I mean, it’s crazy when fans come up to me and cry and just want a hug from me. It bugs me out! But it’s really cool."
However, she admits the constant paparazzi presence has begun to irk her – and she now struggles with anxiety every time a snapper is near.
"Sometimes it does get overwhelming because, for example, I like to be on the beach with my man with no top on. I’m very comfortable with my body. But there’s no privacy – that’s the only thing that overwhelms me. Every time I see a light flash, I think it’s the paparazzi. Those f**kers give me anxiety."
Rose landed a lucrative contract with top modeling agency Ford Models last summer (09) after posing nude with West to promote his new sneaker line with Louis Vuitton.
