There is a lot of resentment that goes on against Bad Boy, and most of it is unmerited.

As an EIC for MXyMAG.com the differences in opinions came to blows several years ago when a writer named Diddy’s Bad Boy as a failing label, to which I rebutted that Sean Comb’s Bad Boy label is actually one of the few ones standing and consistently producing music aside from Def Jam - that’s something that even Jay-Z can’t claim to right now.

In the end of the day the negativity exists because Diddy was the loudest barker in Hip-Hop and he could only bark that loud because Biggie was the greatest rapper a live.

Incidently, big got caught up in a deadly beef with Tupac and since the murders of both rappers are yet to be solved the scapegoats were made to be Sean Combs and Suge Knight, and though Suge Knight does have a laundry list of bad publicity as far as raping his artists go Diddy is right now the more relevant Hip-Hop figure, and because he once barked loudest and has a history of (favorite) rappers who publicly defiled him he has become one of those black men black people need to resent to bury away their own failures.

In perhaps one of the most thorough interviews we have heard from Diddy in a while Diddy lets it be known to DJ Whoo Kid why artists left Bad Boy, the negative results of that, East Coast West Coast beef, and where his individual legacy and the legacy of Bad Boy are…
