says students who listen to indie are generally smarter....hmmm funny enough if you look at the some of the top blogging and indie websites(cokemachineglow, pitchfork, gorilla vs bear), they all seem to have a common agreement that lil wayne is very talented. "The Carter III " made loads of music critics top albums of the year. So what does this say???

Id like to think that the same song/track could be listened to in a variety of ways, and in a variety of people. For example; some folks, may just listen to it cuz it sounds cool and it hits a formula that they are used to(the top 40 cookie machine). Others may listen to that same track from a more critical point of view and acknowledge the addictive beat, the conscious choice of lyrics, and the inability to not bob your head up and down.

I think the common ground between the top 40ers, and the indie heads is they can both get trapped into not acknowledging talent because of other types of people who listen to a certain sound. You become ignorant to music and think good music has to fit this certain category and have a certain formula to decide what good music is.

Im sorry I have to totally disagree with this certain "test". Yes I would agree many people who dont consciously and critically listen to music, stand a better chance at not approaching there studies or work in the same manner and result in them having a low GPA. However it does not prove that ALL the music these top 40 engagers listen to has to be poor quality music.

(yes my grammar and spelling is atrocious and it is not helping in proving my point)
