Tyler Perry capitalizing on Jennifer Hudson’s tragedy?

 Jennifer Hudson Tyler Perry

Movie-maker Tyler Perry criticized for giving Jennifer Hudson a boost as she attempts to bounce back from family tragedy.

Perry insists he’ll wait until Hudson is ready to get back to acting after her mother, brother and nephew were shot dead last October (08).  Said Perry, “I just wrote a movie for her that I’m really excited about. I’m hoping she’ll be able to do it.

Recently critics have voiced their displeasure with the special treatment Hudson has received since the terrible incident.

Said one journalist, “You gotta’ ask yourself: Would she have performed at the Superbowl, won a Grammy, and received countless movie roles if this hadn’t occurred?  It’s a terrible thing, but people like Perry are capitalizing on her tragedy.”

Perry defended his movie script saying, “That’s one of the reasons why I want her to do this role, because I think it’d be really cathartic for her to take it on and work through some things.

Obviously Hudson is talented and I believe Perry has good intentions, but do you think her family tragedy has in some odd way boosted her career?

I also agree with Lisa.Everyone knew she was talented before this tragedy. This is why i can’t stand main-stream media, because they’re not familiar with her work oh it must be sympathy votes. If they had a more diverse staff maybe they would have known that she was very deserving of every performance and award she received!

This woman had people standing up and clapping during Dreamgirls. She got “Secret Life of Bees” Sex In the City” and the like, BEFORE her tragedy, so who is this raggedy journalist saying these dumb things? I don’t think he or she exists. If so, they need to go back to journalism school to learn how to research their topic.

So was the Oscar in anticipation for her family tragedy? The Academy had a hunch some tragedy would befall her so they made sure to give her a “pity Oscar” before hand? Do you know how dumb you sound?

As for the Super Bowl, let’s see, then-Presidential nominee, Barack Obama asked her to sing the Star Spangled Banner to open the DNC Convention this year. Again, this was before her tragedy. So how is it a stretch to think she may be thought of to sing at the Super Bowl. Jordan Sparks sang last year, for crying out loud. Jennifer Hudson is definitely more notable and respected than she is. GET REAL!

Look, no one can control what happens to them. All you can do is rise to the occasion when tragedy strikes and try to get through it. Jennifer is doing just that. She, like a true artist, is using her art to work through her pain. Her singing is better than ever and more poignant. But ask her and I think she’d tell you she’d rather have her family back than a “boost” in her career.

As for Perry, I don’t trust him. He may mean well, but I think movie does not sound like a good idea right now.

This is a perfect example of a hater. Not only does Jennifer deserve everything she has been blessed with she deserves to be respected for the women she remains. Not many people can stand strong and continue there life after being dealt such a devastating blow and the person or persons that questions her strength as well as her talents can not and will not endure and persevere the way miss Hudson has. So instead of trying to discredit her you should be seeking her out so she can teach you how to over come.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, she was acting, singing, and doing her thing before the tragedy why would she not continue on now?? She has definitely earned everything she has gotten!!

    HATERZ!!!

How disappointing to read your comments. I am quite sure that if all it took to get her three loved ones back, was to turn down Tyler Perry’s script, not sing at the superbowl, etc. Jennifer Hudson would have done that by now. The young lady is super talented! This is a nother example of black hating black. When is this going to stop….?

ABSOLUTELY THE INDUSTRY IS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF HER TRAGEDY.

First of all if somebody is crazy enough to kill three members of her family in cold blood don’t you think the blood sucking greedy executives in Hollywood and Entertainment wont hesitate to capitalize on her recent fame.

Jennifer was always a star to “us” and was deserving of everything that she received, but now she’s America’s star. Why do you think the NFL kept advertising that her Superbowl performance would be “the singers first public appearance since her family tragedy.”

Also, Tyler Perry new she was a super talented singer and actor and he never wrote a movie for her until now. That’s some shady stuff right there. He’s trying to make money on her too.

I ain’t mad at JohnJohn for bringing this up because it lets us know how the mainstream media sees the situation. Ya’ll need to stop reacting emotionally and think about the reality. People will always take advantage of a terrible situation and in this case I believe Tyler Perry is dead wrong.

Wow, it sounds like several readers here are missing JohnJohn’s point. He’s reporting what is being said out there and questioning the motives of those Hollywood Execs offering deals to Jennifer Hudson. Here’s my response to JohnJohn’s point: Yes, I think Hollywood is capitalizing on Jennifer’s tragedy and I am not surprised. However, it’s an unfortunate situation that has brought her the attention she deserves, not because of the tragedy but for her God-given talent.

y yall hatin on this article…dont be ignorant now. Hollywood wants to make money off the attention she gettin…which is smart to finally give Jen the business she deserve. The girl won Oscar but never got the movie deal she deserve, til now. I believe TP is doin it because it fits him.

Yes your right Shane. Im wrong! Sorry

But let me say this. If Jennifer got married and had a baby, would that be the same as *boosting her career* if Tyler Perry wanted to write a movie about it?

    Stop thinking inside the BOX!

I disagree… except for the Grammy part… not sure if she would have won a Grammy, even though I liked her CD… but as for movies, she’s been on the rise… She killed Beyonce and ever other star casted in the movie Dreamgirls… I’d write a movie for her too…
But even if I’m wrong and they all are aware that the world has heard Hudson’s cry and wants to feature her more, then so what? It’s a blessing for her!

I don’t think the tragedy has boosted her career, I think it has sped up the process. Jennifer has admitted to turning down large rolls because she wanted to make sure she had conquered the small roles. She said that was the reason she took the role in Sex In The City. This is a money making world and of course we are going to try and make money almost anyway we can. Yes, Jennifer has won much deserved awards and offered great roles in movies before her family tragedy and will continue to do so after their death. Her life doesn’t end because her family’s has. Now Jennifer can decide to continue to turn down the roles that are being offered to her OR she can realize that life is not guaranteed tomorrow and live her life to the fullest. Is Tyler Perry wrong in my opinion “NO” because that is what he does he write rolls for people who are not in the limelight anymore or people who are looking for that roll to jump out at people. Pay attention to his movies, for example look at the cast in Why Did I Get Married, I bet nobody can name their last big movie. Recently Keisha Knight-Pulliam in Madea Goes To Jail. I believe Tyler Perry would have wrote a movie for Jennifer eventually it just so happened that eventually fell after the death of her family. And why in the HELL are people mad at him anyway, the part may have been wrote for her but if she turns it down somebody else will play it just like in Baby Boy. Jennifer won best supporting actress in Dreamgirls and Tyler Perry could be offering her a role that could possibly get her an award for a leading role. I say go on Tyler Perry do what you do bro.
