Women’s Civic Club meets

The Women’s Civic Club of Sea Isle City will hold its Seventh Annual Card Party and Luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 15 from noon to 3:30 p.m. at the Community Lodge in Sea Isle City. Tickets are $16 and can be obtained by calling Mickey at 263-3341. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Family Promise.

Local artist exhibit in Millville

On Friday evening, Sept. 16, the Aponi Gallery in Millville will feature the paintings of local artist Barbara Pitt, of Petersburg. Pitt has been painting for 30 years and the most striking feature about her paintings is that only transparent watercolor is applied layer by layer to give her work a “stained glass” glow. The Friday opening takes place from 5 to 9 p.m. The artist will be in attendance Sept. 17 and 18 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Music benefit for Upper schools

Suzé and the Electric Fish will hold a Music Benefit Bash at LaCosta’s outside Deck in Sea Isle City on Sunday, Sept. 18 from 2 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 and it includes roast beef sandwiches, sides, wine and beer, as well as soft drinks. The show will be hosted by WZXL morning DJ, Joe Ciapanna. All proceeds will benefit the Upper Township school district’s music and technology programs. The Electric Fish are: singer, Suzé DiPietro (from Petersburg, Upper Township); guitarist, John Bradley; bassist Mark Litwak; and drummer, John Hagan. Tea party meeting

The Ocean City and Upper Township Tea Party will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Ocean City Community Center, 17th Street and Simpson Avenue in Ocean City.

Eleventh Annual Applefest

The Historical Preservation Society of Upper Township will host the 11th Annual Applefest on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the John Wesley Gandy Farmstead, 26 Tyler Road in Greenfield. Rain date is Sunday, Oct. 16. There will be a bee keeping demonstration, tours of the restored 1812 barn and Civil War exhibit. Caramel apples, fresh new Jersey apples, apple cider and fall produce, grilled hot dogs and brauts, sauerkraut, onions and peppers and fresh apple cobbler available. an apple pie baking contest will also be held for children and adults. Sons of Italy trip

The Sons of Italy will sponsor a trip to Germany and Switzerland from Oct. 5-13. Bus trip

The South Jersey Chapter of the JW Hallahan Alumnae Association is sponsoring a Broadway theater bus trip to see “Sister Act” for the Wednesday, Oct. 12 matinee. Cost is $175 and includes deluxe roundtrip bus transportation, lunch at the Salmon River Restaurant in Manhattan, theater ticket, and snacks and prizes on the bus. Church trips

Tuckahoe Methodist Church will sponsor a bus trip to Lancaster to Sight and Sound Theater to see “Miracle of Christmas” with shopping at Rockville Outlet Mall and dinner at Good and Plenty on Friday, Dec. 9. Woodbine library children’s programs

The Woodbine Branch of the County Library, located at 800 Monroe Street, Woodbine (adjacent to the school), has ongoing programs for young people. The Winter Preschool Storytime, for children aged 2 to 5 and their caregivers, is held every Thursday at 10 a.m. It includes stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts. Children’s “Art at the Library” is held every Monday starting at 3:30 p.m. through May 23. each week a new art medium will be explored to re-create a page from Caldecott Medal winning books. Shore Points Presbyterian

Pastor Dan Barr and the Shore Points Presbyterian Church invite you to worship with them every Sunday at 10 a.m. The service is followed by a special time of fellowship and refreshments.
