O.J. Simpson on suicide watch
Former NFL Hall of Fame football player spoke of ending his life.
O.J. Simpson is having a difficult time adjusting to prison life since he was transferred to a new facility in Nevada.
The former athlete, who is facing up to 33 years for armed robbery and kidnappings initially requested, “cable TV, a cell phone, and various board games” be placed in his cell.
The Warden rejected all of his requests and, in turn, placed Simpson in a solitary wing after other inmates made threats on his life. A close friend of Simpson describe his living arrangements as, “lonely, very lonely…he’s a people person and this is the worst situation for him”.
In addition to losing 25 pounds after hardly eating during the first three weeks of incarceration, the solitary confinement has reportedly caused Simpson to speak of “ending it all…I can’t take this shit man”.
Guards are currently monitoring him on 24hr cycles, and his attorney has requested Simpson be relocated to the prison’s psychiatric ward.
Simpson isn’t up for parole for at least 9 years.
