Damon Dash’s son rebels against him
Former Hip Hop mogul torn between son and industry.
Damon Dash’s 16-year-old son Damon “Boogie” Dash Jr. spent his New Year’s Eve “deejaying” at a New York City nightclub despite pleas from his father to “stay out of the game”.
Apparently Dash and his son have a somewhat strained relationship because of the hip hop lifestyle Dash lived during much of Boogie’s childhood. One of Boogie’s highschool friends expressed that Dash would put a lot of pressure on his son to “become a doctor or lawyer, because you saw what I went through with hip hop”.
Apparently, Boogie refused to obey his father and threatened to sign with another rap label. With the fear of losing the relationship with his son and the guilt of not being around during his childhood, Dash gave-in and hosted Boogie’s first major gig.
The embattled teen has reportedly been “spoiled beyond belief” since his mother, Linda Williams, was ordered to return Boogie to Dash after she had allegedly kidnapped him last year.
