John Mayer…did he say ‘N*gga’
Ya’ll know I have love for John Mayer but if he says that in an interview…what does he really say in private?
JOHN MAYER has apologized for using the ‘N’ word in a racy Playboy magazine interview. The rocker accepts he went too far when trying to explain his popularity among African-Americans.
Boasting about the fact "black people love me", Mayer told the publication, "Someone asked me the other day, ‘What does it feel like to have a hood pass?’ And, by the way, it’s sort of like a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you would call it a n**ger pass…
"I said, ‘I can’t really have a hood pass.’ I’ve never walked into a restaurant, asked for a table and been told, ‘We’re full.’ Many took offence to his comments, and now Mayer has taken to his Twitter.com blog to apologize.
He writes, "I am sorry that I used the word. And it’s such a shame that I did because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself. It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it, because I realize that there’s no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged.

On February 11, 2010 at 9:14 pmAnyone who knows John Mayer through his music should know his apology is sincere. I don’t believe he used the term in a derogatory sense.

On February 12, 2010 at 6:47 amI used to be a John Mayer fan. But you know what, it’s not his fault. It’s our fault. We’ve built up this idea that stars are great and not racist. That they’re all for us because we spend hundreds of dollars on their music and products. But this is a reality check. I can’t even really trip because he’s a human. Humans are stupid…even the talented rich ones… As for me, I am my own fan… forget all these musicians and artists!

If he wasn’t talented ya’ll wouldn’t be trying to defend him. Don’t be no fool.

On February 16, 2010 at 6:40 pmI think it’s typical for people to get offended by this. If anyone would take the time to actually read what he’s saying and the point that he’s trying to get across, they would see that he’s trying to exemplify how people are racist. He’s not the one being racist…yes, he said a bad wor…but he’s not using it in a derogatory manner…he was trying to explain how many people actually use this word negatively and categorize black people. Yes…maybe he should have realized that people would automatically freak out and not take the time to actually understand what he was saying….but he was trying to explain something that makes sense..people are unfortunately racist….black people are judged…and unfortunately now is John Mayer…by the same people who condone those who judge.
By the way I am not even a John Mayer fan…and I think that his apology further explains what his intentions were behind using the “n” word.

On February 17, 2010 at 12:08 pmI love how all of you morons that have been indoctrinated by the likes of Sharpeton and Jackson really believe that ONLY a black person can understand racism or be allowed to use the “N” word. Fact is, its an ugly word, but blacks support its use every day by their own actions and words. “We’ll” stop using it when you do. Mayer shouldn’t apologize at all. He was in a venue (Playboy) where he thought he had a little extra license for adult behavior. Too many people are on the lookout for opportunities to be offended. Personally, I think it’s dumb to risk pissing off ANY fans and there are truly some beautiful babes of color out there.
