Jay-Z says… ‘White people love hiphop too’

Jay-Z

Jay-Z has credited hip-hop with improving race relations across America.

Rapper Jay-Z insists there’s too much negativity about the hiphop genre and its related culture – and few dwell on the good it’s done.

He explains, “It has changed America immensely… Hip-hop has done more than any leader, politician, or anyone to improve race relations.

Jay-Z continues, “Racism is taught in the home… and it’s very hard to teach racism to a teenager who idolises, say, Snoop Dogg. It’s hard to say, ‘That guy is less than you.’ The kid is like, ‘I like that guy, he’s cool’. White people and all people love hiphop too!’

Jay-Z has a good point, we’ve found that only 46% of JohnJohnSaidIt readers are African American while the other 54% are a mix of every race and culture.

Hiphop is evolving and as Biggie would say, “We can’t change the world unless we change ourselves.”

You are absolutely right Jay-Z.. Hip hop is bridging the gaps that America failed to… How come people from Japan can recite Hip Hop songs word for word, but some cannot read or speak English???? Tha Proof is in tha Hip Hop Speaking… melody, Rhymes, and skill, plus Breaking ( DANCING) DJ’ing and Graffiti Art… Learn your elements and live a better life! GLOBALLY!

It would serve Jay-Z well if before speaking on the matters of racism he would involve himself in some intellectual study-not much but a little. The fact that White people and other people of color enjoy Hip Hop in no way address the impact of personal and instituional racism.

I may like Hip Hop but Hip Hop feeds only the entertainers not the people. Hip Hop does not stop police brutality, or provide work for the millions of unemployed African American youth.

Jay-Z can afford to make these unfounded statements after all he benifits from the apathy and ignorance of the youth as he live in luxury-high on the hog.
