Former NBA star’s attorney injects race into the DUI case.
Charles Barkley hired a well known criminal defense attorney who specializes in DUI cases to prove the former NBA star was racially profiled, and therefore illegally searched and arrested.
His attorney, Scott Maasen launched an independent investigation into the case and has already corralled 4 witnesses who are expected to testify that Barkley wasn’t driving irrational at the time he was pulled over.
Maasen released a statement on Monday that read: “Mr. Barkley, who has no prior DUI convictions, believes wholeheartedly in the court system and is cooperating fully with the court’s process. Mr. Barkley wishes to thank family, friends and his ardent fans for their tremendous outpouring of support during this difficult time.”
Reportedly, Barkely hired the attorney because “the powers that be” at T-N-T have threatened to permanently remove the former basketball star from his job duties pending the outcome of the DUI case.
