Michael Jackson fans get ebay refund
Fans who bought tickets for MICHAEL JACKSON’s comeback concerts on Internet auction site eBay are to receive a full refund.
Jackson was booked to play a sell-out run of 50 gigs at London’s O2 Arena, starting next month and running into next year (10), which sold out in record time when they went on sale earlier this year.
Scores of tickets hit the net and desperate devotees of the King of Pop shelled out excessive amounts to get their hands on tickets.
But, following Jackson’s death on Thursday (25Jun09), eBay bosses have announced anyone who bought tickets on the site will be entitled to a full refund.
A spokesperson for eBay says, "The sad news of Michael Jackson’s death has left fans of the King of Pop bereft. eBay is committed to ensuring that no buyer is left out of pocket as a result of the unique nature of the event, and will ensure all buyers on the site can receive a full refund for their ticket purchase."
Concert-goers who bought tickets through official channels are having to wait until next week (beg29Jun09) to discover if they will be entitled to a refund.
A representative for promoters AEG Live, says, "On behalf of the entire AEG organization we extend our deepest condolences to Michael Jackson’s family and friends during this tragic time. Full ticket refund information and procedures will be released early next week for all Michael Jackson ‘This Is it’ shows. Fans are advised to hold onto their ticket vouchers/proof of purchases.”
It comes as the company’s top boss Randy Phillips paid tribute to Jackson, who passed away following a cardiac arrest.
He says, "Yesterday was a day I will never forget, or want to remember. Michael was both weak and strong, clever and kind, talented beyond belief and equally insecure.
"He was a doting father, respectful son, loving brother, and caring uncle. He was my friend. I take great solace in the pride and confidence he exhibited during production rehearsals on Wednesday night. That is the memory I will cherish for the rest of my life."
