Barack Obama finally decided to distance himself from Jeremiah Wright, his controversial pastor of almost 20 years. In a press conference, Obama stated that some of Wright’s recent comments “contradict everything I am about and who I am.”
I can’t believe it took Obama this long to break ties with Wright. In reality, Wright scares the majority of “White America” with his outspoken viewpoints. I’m black and he scares me at times.
Ultimately we can’t ignore the fact that race will be a deciding factor for many Americans when its time to vote for President.
Lebron James, the All-star forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers has been in a verbal and sometimes physical battle with the entire Washington Wizards basketball team. Members of the Wizards, specifically Deshawn Stevenson, have called Lebron “overrated” and have tried to rough him up during their playoff series.
Lebron managed to stay professional and not retaliate, but his good friend Jay-Z couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be a part of the beef and created a diss song defending Lebron.
Awwww…I guess it’s an example of the “Half -Billion Dollar Man” looking out for the “100 Million Dollar Man.”
Miley Cyrus, the star of the Disney’s Hannah Montana show, has apologized for semi-nude pictures that will appear in an upcoming issue of Vanity Fair magazine. According to Miley, “”I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed.”
I have hope that she is not the next Britney, Paris or Lindsay because I’ve seen interviews with her and she seems to have a descent head on her shoulders. My concern is with her parents.
Some type of warning light should have gone off in her parents’ head when they were asked to allow their 15-year-old daughter to take her bra off for a photo shoot.
I’ve had a chance to see the controversial photo, and it’s definitely not as bad as the media attention it’s garnering, but you can’t escape the fact that she only 15 years old.
Lil’ Wayne captured his first #1 Billboard single this past week with “Lollipop”. For Lil’ Wayne fans, it’s hard to believe that this is his first #1 single, especially since “Lollipop” is the most annoying song ever. I just hope he doesn’t follow in the footsteps of T-Pain by over using that vocal tube synthesizer.
Either way, I gotta’ give him props for this accomplishment. It’s great to see a talented rap artist having success versus a “one hit wonder”.
