Jay-Z faces Federal lawsuit…cheapskate

Jay-Z

JAY-Z is facing more legal action in relation to a pay dispute at his New York City sports bar.

The 99 Problems hitmaker, real name Shawn Carter, is represented by attorney Michael DiMattia in a battle with employees of his 40/40 Club, who claim they are being paid less than minimum wage and have not been rewarded for overtime.

DiMattia has been working for the hip-hop star since July 2008, but he’s now looking to quit as Jay-Z’s attorney after filing a federal lawsuit against the rap mogul over the unpaid invoice, of which the value is unknown.

In a letter written to Federal Court Judge Loretta Preska, DiMattia says, "We are seeking to withdraw because… our requests for payment have been ignored."

And the news has infuriated the lawyers working on behalf of the 40/40 Club employees.

Rex Burch, who is fighting for the staff, tells the New York Post, "It’s astounding. For rap’s biggest mogul, you’d think this amount of money would be chump change…he’s being cheap"
