Kanye West refused psychiatric help

Kanye West

Rapper Kanye West refused to seek professional help to deal with his grief following the death of his mother.

The hip-hop star lost his mother Donda in November 2007 after she suffered complications from plastic surgery. Shortly afterwards, West and his fiancee Alexis Pfeiffer broke off their engagement and parted ways.

Several friends of West had encouraged him to seek therapy or counseling but he insisted, “I don’t believe in therapy. I believe in you gotta’ walk it out, you gotta’ live it out. Life has its ups and downs. And sometimes you sprain an ankle, you have to walk it out, like back in the day in summer camp”.

Unfortunately for West, friends are concerned that he’s dealing with something more serious than a sprained ankle and his recent erratic behavior hasn’t gone unnoticed.  Said one grief counselor, “I don’t know his specific situation, but it would seem that Mr. West has yet to go through the basic grieving process and ultimately it catches up to you no matter how we avoid it”.

The rapper/producer went on to say, “Sometimes you have to cry it out.  But I don’t believe in sitting down with a shrink”.  These comments occurred shortly after it was reveled that Jennifer Hudson sought therapy to deal with the death of family members.

We wish him the best.

KanYe’s music has always been like “therapy” for me… It always had a message that inspired and also one I could relate to on several occasions. I thank him for sharing his pain in projects like 808s ad Heartbreak. I hope KanYe has music or people in his life that he looks to when he needs it. I am sure he does. I disagree with “dude got a God complex lately”. For a man like him to make “Jesus Walks” that got played on major radio, KanYe has always “been about God”. Long story short… and thanks for the reads on this blog, I wish people would stop dissing artists in general as they share their soul to create something special that many just tear apart as I find very few people gravitate towards the positive news…
