Martin Luther King - 40 years later…
April 4, 1968….Its been 40 years since Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis….Its amazing how the power of spoken word accompanied with action can change a nation for generations to come….I wonder what Dr. King would think of some of the civil rights issues we face today….illegal aliens coming from Mexico….gay couples marriage….reverse racism against Whites…and last but certainly not least; the state of Black America.
Is Dr. King rolling-over in his grave…..Let me know what ya think.

On April 3, 2008 at 6:39 pmI think that he’d be proud. Little white kids and black kids ARE holding hands in friendship and some are doing more than that… (wink-wink from me and Robert)
Sure the projects are still littered with black and brown people, but there are SO MANY MORE opportunities now then there could have ever been imagined back then. And hey, if everyone was up there would be NO UP.
Liberty is priceless and America is waking up to that fact. Just take a look at American Idol…. yes, it’s a bit cheesy, but I doubt that Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, or Jordin Sparks would say that. They were nobodys and overnight they took over the air waves….. hell just look at you Mr John-John.
Martin Luther King Jr did NOT die in vain!

On April 4, 2008 at 5:47 amThere have been ignorant people since the beginning of time. So it is no surprise that “colored” people continue to project life in the wrong manner. Martin Luther King has nothing to do with parenting. All of the “I have a Dream” speeches in the world could not control the kids today, because through generations, parents are becoming weaker and weaker. They seem to be more interested in being their kids’ friends instead of providing guidance. I do agree with the fact that opportunities are endless now even to the point that a “colored” man is a primary presidential candidate… and a lot of white people tend to wanna vote for him. The mindsets of people need to change and and we must stop worrying about being judged by the world and living by the world’s standards. Most of “The World” doesn’t meet the standard!

On April 4, 2008 at 6:38 amIts a sad sight for civil rights. We are a society that just acts like we have overcome when we really are racist and prejudice behind closed doors. We haven’t learned how to be respectful of other races; instead weve learned how to be politically correct.

On April 4, 2008 at 11:40 amAll the lives that were sacrificed (including Dr. King’s), sped up the process for great change. And we need to be grateful for that. To me, when Dr. King said “all people”, I don’t think he omitted *** couples, illegal aliens, or white people…”all” is “all”. I do think that how we, a society, deal with *** couple marriages and with today’s illegal immigrant population will say something about the values of America. One more thing, I think Dr. King would be disappointed that after 40 years his annual march does not reflect anything near to “all people.” And that’s our fault.

On April 5, 2008 at 6:30 pmI do believe that before Dr. King was anything else, he was a Christian! And so while I do think he’d look for a solution for illegal immigration, I don’t think he’d be too happy with *** marriages. I don’t think Dr. King was fighting for sinful rights, the same goes for any sin though not just *** marriage. Dr. King wanted equality, but he was a Christian man, let’s not let that be forgotten.
And I agree with JohnJohn, we’ve reversed racism and our answers seems to be, “Well they didn’t go through what we did.” King fought so that we’d understand what “we” (they) went through, but not use that an excuse as to why we’re stuck. And Black America… if I stopped to write about that, this website would shut down. It’s sad when they go to the MLK march to fight other blacks. But like I said, I won’t even go there!
