President Bush pardons rapper…check out his new song

Although Kanye West once claimed that “Bush don’t like black people”, the former President gained praise from many people in the hip-hop community by pardoning rapper/producer John Forte.

We’re still not exactly sure why Forte was pardoned versus all the other drug dealing black men in jail, but regardless, he’s back with a sample of what’s to come.  Let us know if you’re feeling it.

I’m glad Forte is home. For some people it takes jail to sometimes change bad habits or to realize that certain situations that come in our lives are not worth the fast money. I’m not proud of the fact he went to prison but I am happy that music artist are taking their place and he is one of them. What up Forte!!!

On why he was pardoned by Bush (source: wikipedia)

John Forte went to high school at the very exclusive boarding school, Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, where he won a full scholarship to study violin. There he befriended the cousin of Ben Taylor, Carly Simon’s son.

Carly Simon and her son Ben Taylor have been advocates on Forte’s behalf, believing he did not receive a fair trial, fought for an appeal of the mandatory minimum drug laws that remove a judge’s discretion in a case.

With the help of Senator Orrin Hatch (Exeter alumni and amateur musician), Forté’s prison sentence was commuted by President George W. Bush on November 24, 2008. He was released from prison four weeks later December 22.

Senator Hatch assisted R&B producer Dallas Austin’s release from Dubai following a conviction for drug possession.
