R. Kelly ‘caught up’ in another fraud
R&B star R. KELLY is caught up in an African fraud case, involving a woman who is accused of conning dozens of people out of thousands of dollars.
The unnamed woman is facing more than 60 counts of fraud against more than 50 individuals, who claim they invested money into a R. Kelly tour that never happened.
According to the Times newspaper in South Africa, the defendant deposited money she fraudulently obtained into Kelly’s bank account.
Cops in Johannesburg want to speak with the singer, but he claims he knows nothing about the scam.
His representative tells us, "The woman has no connection at all with R. Kelly. This is just some con woman who swindled a bunch of people out of money. R. Kelly had no knowledge of this, he’s just as upset as anyone."
The claims come exactly a year after Kelly was acquitted on 14 charges of videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl.
