Michael Jackson…greatest entertainer ever!
Berry Gordy Jr. described Michael Jackson as the "greatest entertainer in the world"…see pictures!
The Motown Records founder - who signed the Jackson 5 - said the late singer’s famous ‘King of Pop’ moniker was "not enough" to describe the star he thought of "like a son".
He said: "The more I talk about Michael Jackson, the more I feel the ‘King of Pop’is not big enough for him. I think he is simply the greatest entertainer that ever lived.
"He studied the greats and then became greater. He raised the bar, and then he broke the bar.
"Off-stage he was shy, soft-spoken and childlike. But when he took the stage in front of his fans he became a different person. A master. Awesome… totally in charge."
Following a video montage of the singer’s greatest hits, Stevie Wonder then said he "wished he hadn’t lived" to see the death of his friend but that "God must have needed him more than we did".
He then sang, ‘Never Dreamed You’d Leave In Summer’ - a track which featured in Janet Jackson’s movie ‘Poetic Justice’.
Prior to Berry’s speech, Lionel Richie performed ‘Jesus Is Love’ after an address by Queen Latifah, who said she was there to "represent the fans who grew up loving Michael from a distance," before reading a poem by author Maya Angelou.
