NBA Player speaks on Charles Barkley…’It could have been me’
Ex-NBA All-star may have already received pink slip.
By now the entire sports world is aware that NBA star Charles Barkley has supposedly taken “a leave of absence” from his job as a basketball commentator with TNT Sports.
But one NBA player has given a more realistic viewpoint, “Chuck is done. They might re-hire him after things die down…but basically it’s a wrap.”
Police say Barkley, who was arrested Dec. 31 in Scottsdale, Ariz., on suspicion of driving under the influence, was legally drunk with a blood-alcohol level of .149, nearly twice the legal limit of .08 in Arizona.
TNT claims that Barkley will only be off the air for “several weeks”, but insiders say the network was immediately bombarded with emails from “Barkely haters” who wanted to see him publicly humiliated.
Said the NBA source, “They won’t put him on blast and say he’s fired just out of respect. I don’t know one player in this league who hasn’t done what Chuck did…at least once. It could have been me.”
The NBA legend is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 20 for the drunk-driving arrest.
