Free music…

Posted May 5, 2008 by JJSaidIt Staff

Rock group Nine Inch Nails did the unthinkable today. They allowed fans to download their new album for free. It marks the first time that a major music artist has done this.

One of the band members said it best, “acknowledge what the marketplace is already showing us: free exists whether you want to acknowledge it or not. Let’s acknowledge that, use it and do something with it.”

I love that mentality…somebody needs to tell the gas companies that.

johnjohn what will happen if all the artists start doing that? this is so odd. I think people only want what they can’t have so that’s y getting it free is so cool. its like beer before it was legalized. so maybe if artists do this it will be like reverse psychology. I don’t know about everyone else but ill continue to pay for good music.

This was great marketing… I love it… to be among the first to do this… Gets people talking and leaves a pretty good impression… like they’re doing something “for the people”… GREAT marketing case image!
cause I think I have heard of this group before but now I might listen… well probably not… but at least I thought about listening for a hot second…lol
